Roadburn is very pleased to announce that Tom Gabriel Warrior, founder of the illustrious Hellhammer and Celtic Frost, has agreed to act as the curator for our festival on Friday, April 16th 2010, and host a special event at Roadburn, called Only Death Is Real. Tom’s duties as curator include personally selecting the bands that will play on Only Death Is Real, as well as to perform the first major headlining set with his latest incarnation, Triptykon. Tom will be Roadburn’s third curator, following up on David Tibet in 2008 and Neurosis earlier this year, and we would call his election a perfectly natural progression. Roadburn 2010 will run for three days from Thursday, April 15 to Saturday, April 17 at the 013 venue in Tilburg, Holland. There will be an additional Afterburner event on Sunday, April 18, 2010.  |

CANDLEMASS To Perform Entire 'Epicus' Album With Original Singer At Holland's ROADBURN Festival: Swedish doom metal legends CANDLEMASS have been confirmed for next year's Roadburn festival, set to take place April 15-17, 2010 at the 013 venue and Midi Theatre in Tilburg, Holland. There will be an additional afterburner event on Sunday, April 18, 2010. Celebrating their 25th anniversary, CANDLEMASS will play a very special, two-hour set on Saturday, April 17. Opening at 16.00hrs, CANDLEMASS will perform their classic album "Epicus Doomicus Metallicus" in its entirety with Johan Längquist on vocals. There will be a special part of the set that incorporates new singer Robert Lowe as well. Commented CANDLEMASS bassist Leif Edling: "I'm looking forward to do our first 25th anniversary show at Roadburn in Holland. It's a cool festival that handpicks great bands every year! Doom / underground / metal / classic... I think CANDLEMASS will fit right in!! We will play a very special set — 'Epicus Doomicus Metallicus' in its entirety for the very first time, featuring Johan Längquist on vocals!! There will also be a Robert Lowe part of the show, where we do some classics as well as new stuff, of course. I think there will be some special surprises there too!! I must say I love the early show time on the Saturday. Then there's plenty of time to watch the other bands later!" Roadburn considers CANDLEMASS one of the most important doom bands ever. They are on a very short list of doom greatness that includes BLACK SABBATH, SAINT VITUS and perhaps no one else. Their influence can be heard and felt throughout the current stoner and doom scene. Johan Langquist last performed with CANDLEMASS at the band's 20th-anniversary concert on March 31, 2007 at Stockholm, Sweden's Kolingsborg. The show was professionally filmed and was released in October 2007 as the "20 Year Anniversary Party" DVD via Snapper/Peaceville. CANDLEMASS performed with no less than seven (!) different vocalists — including the band's former singers Johan Langquist and Tomas Vikström, plus the group's latest addition, Robert Lowe of SOLITUDE AETURNUS. In addition to the concert footage, the DVD includes interviews with all the vocalists from that evening as extra material. Het schijnt dat Pagan Altar trouwens ook bevestigd is voor Roadburn 2010, vette line-up al tot nu toe en er zijn nog maar een paar bands bekend..
Enslaved, Candlemass, Triptykon ( deze band moet gewoon goed zijn ), Pagan Altar en hopelijk nog veel meer.

Jaja, dat belooft weer wat!  Ik blijf stiekem hopen dat ze Roky Erickson eens naar Roadburn gaan halen. Volgens velen de grondlegger van de psychedelische rock (al valt daar over te discussieren) en ook de grote inspiratiebron voor een band als The Devil's Blood. |

Dit belooft weer eens wat, ben benieuwd of ze de line-up van vorig jaar gaan overtreffen. Pagan Altar is al een mooi begin, en Candlemass natuurlijk!
